2-Day Pottery Wheel Throwing Workshop FAQ
What’s covered in a 2-day throwing workshop in Manchester?
In this weekend pottery workshop you’ll be introduced to throwing on the wheel. You’ll learn how to centre the clay, about clay preparation, how to throw bowls and cylinders, and how to turn your pieces.
We’ll fire and clear glaze your best 5 or you can come back and glaze any amount of them yourself or take them away.
Who are your 2-Day Throwing Workshops for?
The throwing workshop is a great experience for any adults looking to enhance their throwing skills and who aren’t interested in hand-building. If you’re trying it for the first time we’d recommend taking a pottery taster class first, however if you’re up for a challenge then you can dive right into this throwing weekend. We’ll put you on track to learning this fun activity, improving your skills if you’re an intermediate, attending one of our regular classes, or have finished our beginner courses. As we know all the habits that people tend to pick up when learning online, and self-teaching, we can also boost any home potters to be able to do it independently and more confidently at home.
Can I take the pots home after the class or when can I collect them?
After the class we need to wait for the pots to dry, twice fire them, and clear glaze them, which can take anywhere between 3-6 weeks. You can also come back to glaze any amount of them yourself in an extra session, using our house made glazes. We’ll email you when they’re ready to collect, then you can come down and collect them anytime we’re in the pottery.
What should I bring/wear to your 2-day throwing weekend?
Be ready to get a little messy. Bring a hand-towel, some lunch, an open mind, some positive energy, have shorts nails and wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty (aprons provided).
