Learn a new skill in our beginner pottery courses, which run evenings and daytimes. You’ll cover all the basic pottery making techniques including wheel throwing, hand-building, and glazing, among others. Our full pottery course is 18-weeks divided into 6 week blocks so you can try them out. Each 6-week course is self contained and covers different pottery making techniques. All include wheel throwing and hand-building methods.

What’s covered in your beginner ceramics courses in Manchester?

We have 18 weeks of beginner ceramics courses designed to teach you the basic pottery making skills. It’s an overview of all the basic methods of throwing, turning, hand-building, glazing, and slip decoration. We divide the course into 6-week blocks so you can try the class out without committing to the full 18 weeks. It also gives you the option of taking a break and re-joining again later. The different courses run consecutively so you can continue after you finish your first 6 weeks. It’s perfect for a beginner and also great for the self-taught intermediate.

 

Who are your pottery courses for?

Our ceramics courses are a great experience for any adults looking for creative things to do in Manchester, and anyone wanting to learn how to make pottery. It is suitable for individuals to come on their own as a solo activity, as it’s easy to meet new people there. It’s also great in couples or groups, and can be an excellent birthday gift in Manchester.

 

How often do you list your ceramics courses?

We list these 6-week pottery courses every 6 weeks. If we’re sold out sign up to our mailing list on the right (below for mobile) for notification of their release.

 

Can I take the pots home after the class or when can I collect them?

After the class we need to wait for the pots to dry, twice fire them, and clear glaze them, which can take anywhere between 3-6 weeks. We’ll email you when they’re ready to collect, then you can come down and collect them anytime we’re in the pottery.

 

What should I bring/wear to your pottery class?

Be ready to get a little messy. Bring an open mind, some positive energy, have shorts nails and wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
