Make and Paint your own pottery mug

Fancy handcrafting your own brew vessel for your daily morning ritual tea or coffee in Manchester? This make and paint your own pottery mug workshop will show you how to construct, slab, coil and slip a solid mug for that caffeine drop. You’ll be given a short demonstration and then dive right into pottery making. Add your own funky handle and then finish it off with our porcelain slips to paint your pottery with. Think patterns: stripes, chequers, dots or go Jackson Pollock with splats, spatters and drips, it’s yours to be as minimal or maximal as you want. Your pot will then be twice fired and clear glazed for collection a few weeks later. You can checkout our other taster classes if want to try throwing on the wheel.

What’s covered in this make a mug class?

You’ll make a single pottery mug, slabbing the form, attaching a handle and painting it with our clay tone slips. If you have time you’re welcome to make a couple of little espresso cups to go with it.

 

Who are your make and pottery painting classes for?

They’re suitable for any adults 18 and over to come on their own as a solo activity, as it’s easy to meet new people. It’s also great in couples or groups, and can be an excellent team building activity in Manchester, birthday, creative couples date or hen do activity. The pottery classes are a perfect experience gift such as a birthday gift, anniversary gift, gift for her, or gift for mum as well. How often do you list your make a mug classes?

We list our make a mug classes each month a few months in advance.

 

Can I take the pots home after the class or when can I collect them?

After the class we need to wait for the pots to dry, twice fire them, and clear glaze them, which can take anywhere between 3-6 weeks. We’ll email you when they’re ready to collect, then you can come down and collect them anytime we’re in the pottery.

 

What should I bring/wear to your pottery class?

Be ready to get a little messy. Bring an open mind, some positive energy, have shorts nails and wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
